Clouds from Tormenta Tropical Kristy greeted Zihuatanejenses this Monday morning. Thank goodness the temperature finally came down a bit. But since early this morning the Capitanía de Puerto restricted navigation by small vessels outside the bay due to expected development of Tormenta Tropical Kristy into a hurricane. Right around sunset the rain finally started falling accompanied by intermittent strong gusts of wind. Conditions are expected to remain like this with heavy rains off and on at least throughout the night. I'm always thankful for our sheltered bay during these conditions. Things are always worse along the open ocean and on the hilltops than they are in our downtown area with the protection of our hills. For those of you who are here, it's not a night to be out'n'about.

Over 100 basketball teams from the around Mexico were here this weekend playing practically non-stop games at our local basketball courts. No idea who won or what the outcome was since absolutely none of what passes for our local news media reported on it.

Please, when you buy things here from street vendors, fishermen or local shops, don't haggle the price. If you want it, then simply pay what they're asking.

Before this evening's rain the local waters had returned to being quite clear again. I don't recommend swimming for a couple of days at least after a heavy rain. And watch what you step on at the beach. I often find some nasty sharp man-made stuff along the water's edge during my morning walks. Amazing what the ocean spits back out. I can recall when it was extremely rare to see the stuff that we now see wash up on our beaches every single day in our so-called Pueblo Mágico.
