"No biggie", the legal mumbo jumbo does tend to get confusing,
as this case was, and even moreso when mixing 2 different countries.
I'm not clear on what you're seeking. You have a document in English that you want notarized by a MEXICAN notary for use here in Mexico? First you would need to have an official translation made. I don't believe a Mexican notary can notarize documents in other languages without an official translation.

FIRST, YOU need to read exactly what the signature page says about the signature.
And NO, where I went, they did NOT need an "official translation.".
That said, another Notary, DID require it.
The document was NOT for "use here in Mexico" either.
I signed the signature page, it was notarized,
and returned it, along with the document,
to the Attorney handling the case in Santa Moncia CA
The thing here is, that they are NOT notarizing the DOCUMENT per se.
This was a VERY BASIC task:
What was needed, and was done, was simply to notarize my SIGNATURE,
that I signed the paper. I believe the Notario called it a "RATIFICACIÓN DE FIRMA"

EXCERPT FROM POST BY Little Guy--->

We might be discussing different types of notarizing documents for different purposes.

I was an authorized person for a period of time and did many such certifications by simply taking the original, photocopying it myself, and certifying that it was a true and correct copy of the original”.
I also had to certify signatures.

Again, I wasn’t attesting to the accuracy or truthfulness of the content of the document. I was only certifying that I witnessed the document being signed by the person. (I also had to ensure that the person “signing” was the person who was writing their name. Often I had long-standing relationship with the person. Otherwise I had to check multiple pieces of identification.)

It sounds like @jaui is seeking the signature witnessed and certified, not the latter, (a certified true and correct translation)."

Different Notary Services (reply)

But that's not how a notary service works. THEY have to understand the document as well as your signature.

We might be discussing different types of notarizing documents for different purposes.

My experience in Canada is that some documents are notarized as being “a true and correct copy of the original”. When I was probating wills in Canada, sometimes I needed an “original” of the will in order to get something done. Other times a “certified true and correct copy” was sufficient. For the latter, the person who was authorized did not need to understand the contents of the document. They didn’t even need to read the document in order to certify it as being “a true and correct copy” of the original.

I was an authorized person for a period of time and did many such certifications by simply taking the original, photocopying it myself, and certifying that it was a true and correct copy of the original”. I wad not attesting to the truth of anything in the document or the accuracy of the original document. I was only certifying that the copy was the same as the original.

If however a person were to need a translation of a document, at least in Canada, the process was different. The legally recognized translator would have to swear in the presence of the person who was authorized to notarize documents that the translation was a true translation.

It sounds like @jaiu is seeking the signature witnessed and certified, not the latter, (a certified true and correct translation).

Hola
Several years ago we had to have a signature notarized in Mexico. We had a document, in English, emailed to us which we printed out, in English, at the Kodak place on calle ejido. We went to a notary who had it translated to Spanish which we signed and had it notarized. We sent it back to Canada in Spanish. Everything went fine. Can't remember the cost.
