I lost a ham and cheese sandwich at LAX. (I said that I had food.). Then the testing person got inordinately excited and proclaimed it had mayonnaise as well.

Here’s something I found interesting, having declared them at LAX and at Canada Customs. Small Mexican limes are permitted. The agriculture person at LAX said that they were “sweet limes”, (the big ones grown in California) they would have been seized. They said the little ones have so much acid in the skins that pests can’t live on them.

It’s handy to have a pen on the plane to complete the customs/aduana form.

And, if arriving in Mexico through ZIH, depending on the day, it is handy to have all of the original receipts for anything that aduana might possibly show interest in.

I flew down on Aeromexico via Mexico City a few weeks ago and was told by the flight attendant that there is no longer forms to fill out. They simply stamped my passport going through customs and off I went. For your checked luggage its best to look at the baggage tag that they stick on the back of your boarding pass to see if it's checked straight through to your final destination. Or ask when you are checking into your flight.

Just look online. If nothing else, your airline should have the links. Easy.

Oh, if it were only that easy.

A year or two ago when a friend was visiting me, the airline said no FMM forms were needed, so there were none on the plane.

I had told my friend he would need to complete an FMM. I brought him one and will filled it in together when I saw him in Canada.

When the plane landed, migración required FMM forms. My friend was the only one who had one already completed. Everyone else was standing in line, borrowing pens, and filling in forms without any hard surface.

When I have arrived via Mexico City the airline has invariably announced that all luggage had to be collected and taken through aduana. On every occasion my checked luggage has gone through MEX to ZIH without me collecting it.

In my experience, recent real life experiences are more helpful than generic information from airlines.
