What a day!!!

Ran some errands and headed out to Barra de Potosi.

The drive in brought laughs of the days of taking combis to Los Achotes then jumping on the pasajero to BdP.

I was fortunate to visit Barra for the first time some 27 years ago. Back then it was a wild bumpy ride to get there in what was in the beautiful of no where. No phone/internet and it was not missed. Simple basics of firewood and beer, and the fresh catch of the day was a gourmet meal.

We took the route near the airport and every 3 months there appears to be more and more development.

Enramada Teresitas has been our spot for years.

La Barra was absolutely beautiful today! The lagoon is full, tranquil and a piece of Mother Earth I am glad to know.

The fresh breeze smelled and felt like December is around the corner.

Lunch consisted on spicy lime Micheladas con climato, the freshest tiritas and some shrimp.

The nice cool breeze after lunch results in a great much needed siesta.

I highly recommend Enramada Teresitas and a trip to LA Barra.

Whale season tours kick off December 15. $175 per boat.

OK, Shoot the messenger.

Friends in town and NFL Sunday. Sounds like pizza and beer, or wine.

First time to try Pizza Hut, Zihuatanejo

Walk in and smells like and looks like Pizza Hut. Limited seating area and Coke products vs Pepsi in the States.

Ordered to go and took about 30 minutes from order to walk out.

Large pan Pizza topped with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms tasted identical to the States.

Great taste, value, and will back throughout the remainder of the NFL season.

Pizza pairs well La Cetto Vino del Valle de Guadalupe, BC. Or any beer.

They also sell wings.

Delivery limited to Zih

Great NFL Sunday meal coupled with Cowboys win and 4 taen parlay win.

Thanks for the report. My family is anxious to give them a try, too. The nice thing about the pizza chains is they at least use mozzarella cheese that isn't always available to other local pizzerias.

Max,

Thanks for the report. I miss the days when more people posted their experiences in Z. There are so many unique restaurants that have existed for years that I have never tried and new ones that are constantly opening. I love hearing people's recommendations and opinions, it certainly helps pass the time during the daily grind of life elsewhere.

In response to the above, food presentation is IMO important. Food and art are closely related. Going to a good restaurant should be a multi-sensory experience. You eat with your eyes, nose, and mouth. It separates the chefs from the cooks.

When I'm dining out, presentation is very low on my list of desires, especially when food is piled so high it's hard to eat. IMO restaurants that emphasize presentation often do so to camouflage small portion sizes and "justify" high prices. I'm definitely not a "supersize-me" person, but I don't appreciate paying high prices and walking away hungry, which has happened to us on occasion.

Bartolos on Calle Adelita is another great spot. Not trying to start a fight, but my vote for best chilaquiles in town. Bartolos places an emphasis on their presentation of their dishes which is a sign of a great restaurant. This is followed by exceptionally well prepared tasty dishes. Their sauces have a subtle blend to capture all of their ingredients. Their chilaquiles rojo con arranchera and their baguette arranchera are my favorites. The baguette is a thing of beauty and gourmet worthy.

Aren't they the ones that instigated the blue beach bs? I remember once I was coming through the restaurant carrying my dog. The owner had a fit.

We stopped going to La Perla several years ago because of the owner, plus we found the food to be mediocre.

Mini Trip Report

Nothing but contentment!

Unusually hot and humid for this time of year but you feel a change each morning.

Blessed to be here the past 3 weeks.

Days at La Ropa cannot be beat. Been doing this for years but each opportunity is magical. La Perla continues to be our spot. Great location, service and can catch an NFL or NCAA game. Sunset dinner at La Perla continues to be incredible.

Margaritas on Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez in Colonia La Madera continues to be the best breakfast in town. Their sauces in the guisados remain incredible. Hand made tortillas pop when touched and doughy good. Excellent service and a gourmet meal.

Asadero Julios in Zih is the hidden gem you are missing. The best tacos in Zih. Carnitas are incredible and that unexpected gelatinous chew takes it over the top. Their arranchera is premium and their pollos tamarindo, pina or la diablo are beyond words. Parking is tough. Extremely economical and a place Antony Bourdin would love. Cold beer and a DJ on Sunday to get your groove on.
