Each morning many of us greet each other and catch up on goings on and gossip, like any small town. The waterfront fishermen's area has a life of its own. Some fishermen do better than others and rib their pals over it. But most help each other, like a big family. People compare catches, buyers haggle prices, visitors snap photos. People walk away carrying fish of all shapes and sizes. Other locals greet their fishermen friends and each other as we walk about. Lots of people sit around with their coffee enjoying the sunrise and the spectacular view. Others await the opening of certain favorite places to get their coffee. One popular place is Café Caracol's terrace overlooking Plaza del Artista. One of the livelier places downtown in the morning. Lots of local personalities meet there each morning, and it always sounds like a huge fiesta. Muchos chismosos chismeando. But we all absolutely love living here.

Hardly any Mexican visitors are here right now, a few, but today it seemed like the extranjeros might've outnumbered national tourists. During our evening stroll we saw several of the waterfront restaurants full of folks from north of the border enjoying themselves and our delicious Mexican fare. A basketball game was going on at the Cancha Municipal while onlookers enjoyed the game. Smiling faces everywhere! That's what Zihuatanejo's all about!
