Our friend Felix, who walks miles and miles every day, selling his baskets, says business is very slow. He doesn't think there are many extranjeros in town.

Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

It wasn't quite as cool this morning as in previous days, but it was a beautiful and refreshing morning, nonetheless. The beachgoers continue arriving early, before the sun even rises. All around the Cancha Municipal tourists sit in the morning watching the sunrise and enjoying coffee with pan dulce, while a few others choose stronger libations. A few spend the entire evening there overindulging. Monday mornings are always slow since by tradition very few fishermen if any go out fishing Sunday night.

The downtown beach saw quite a few beachgoers throughout the day and well into the evening, mostly families enjoying themselves, some discovering the ocean for the first time. Although there appear to be quite a few national and international visitors around, sales remain slow for most local shops and merchants, though beachfront restaurants that were open were doing an excellent business this evening. Daniel's was packed!

While we strolled the pier this late afternoon, a fishing panga pulled up with a large marlin draped across its bow. It's sad to see a marlin killed for a "sport" it doesn't know it's playing. The smaller tuna beside it was a better and more justifiable catch, IMHO.

The view of the sunset over the treetops from their pool is breathtaking, and the peace and quiet will relieve you of any stress. Five comfortable suites with air conditioning, TV, and Wi-Fi access at this LGBTQ-friendly lodging make it somewhat exclusive and definitely enchanting. Mention ZihuaRob's and get a discount.
