Hospital Veterinario Nutrizoo in Zihua offers the applicable Certificate.

Their number is (755) 554 4293. You can message them thru WhatsAp at this number for further information and to schedule an appointment. Although I have yet to use them, their customer service has been great.

Mil Gracias, I was not looking forward to driving to Uruapan simply to get a veterinarian who had the official sanctioned stamp. Jorge Islas is an extremely competent local veterinarian.

We can be optimistic but until Dr Islas or another local vet is "trained and authorized" to issue the screwworm certificate, there is not an official government vet within 100+ miles of Zihuatanejo.

Check with Dr. Jorge, but check with Sharon. She is in touch with both the airlines and FDA.

It appears that all airlines flying from Mexico to the USA are complying with the APHIS mandate.

We fly Aeroméxico from ZIH to MEX, then Delta back to the US in April. We have to have the certificate for our dog in order to return. I have been in contact with Dr Islas on WhatsApp. He is aware of the need for an area vet to be authorized to issue it.

Flights leaving ZIH to the states on Alaska Airlines definitely require the screwworm certification. I know this because a friend actually drove out to the airport and asked the Alaska rep if he could board an upcoming flight with his pup to LAX without it. Answer: Nope

Not to nitpick but the screwworm certificate for canines is being mandated by the US Department of Agriculture, specifically the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). It's completely separate from the CDC rabies/ microchip requirement and has nothing to do with the FDA.

No official changes. No SENASICA licensed vet in Zihuatanejo area . Closest vets licensed are in Acapulco , Uruapan and Patzcuaro . Alaska airlines is now checking paperwork at Zihuatanejo airport and denying flight if you don’t have SENASICA stamp . This changed last week .

I just checked the APHIS website again. The language has been updated a bit. Now it's says "the required screwworm freedom certification may be issued by a clinical veterinarian trained and authorized to sign on behalf of the official government veterinarian." It's still a challenge but if a local vet has authorization it can be done. Recommend contacting Dr Jorge Islas in Ixtapa. He is checking on becoming authorized.
