That new sensation in the air is the humidity increasing and the ocean warming up. Daily we're seeing potential rain clouds in the region, sometimes off in the ocean, sometimes in the sierra. Our rainy season is slowly forming up. Any day now.

Of course, it also means our evenings are not quite as comfortable for sleeping as they've been for the past several months. Ni modo. Folks from here are used to it, and for those who aren't, if you don't allow yourself to acclimate then you'll never be comfortable here. A good fan is all one should need.

The crowds have gone, but since Día de las Madres is this Saturday, we may see some decent tourism this weekend. The restaurants will certainly be busy. Then comes the long slow spell until the schools let out around mid-July. This is also a time when people get laid off, businesses close, and we often see an uptick in crime, mostly holdups and burglaries. The price we pay for an ever-growing population in a tourist destination with no alternative economy.

I believe the Danzón dancers will be in Plaza del Artista this Wednesday evening around 7-ish, sunset time, so come on down and enjoy the magic. Join in if you feel like it. Everyone is certainly welcome to try their hand. This is part of the magic of Zihuatanejo.
