Mexico is shocked, sad and hurting today from the tragic incident involving the naval training and goodwill sailing ship Cuauhtémoc in the Hudson River yesterday evening where two sailors died, and 22 sailors were injured. Regardless of the results of the investigation, we all send our condolences to the families of the deceased, and we wish a full recovery for those who were injured.

The cloudy skies have gone, but the rain seems to have broken the fever, so to speak, and caused our temperatures to return to being milder than they were. Even the water in our tinacos has cooled back down, making our showers much more refreshing. The mar de fondo remained a much milder event than had been anticipated, and it never really affected navigation to Isla Ixtapa or swimming in Zihuatanejo's bay.

A few visitors showed up this Sunday, but they weren't the spenders local merchants rely on. Nevertheless, they spent the day enjoying our beaches, and hopefully they'll return home with good experiences to share with their family and friends. Word of mouth remains our best advertising.

A favorite location for many visitors, Amor del Sol located overlooking Playa La Madera is an extremely comfortable and nicely appointed condominium that offers from 1 to 3 bedrooms (only pay for what you need!). The complex has a pool, but the ocean at La Madera is often calm enough for easy swimming.
