Notice in today's photo of the mouth of La Boquita Canal, you can see that the two beach cleaners who work the beach every day have just raked part of the sand there, yet somehow they missed a flattened plastic bottle near the same area towards the right edge of the photo. Amazing. A shame they don't take their jobs more seriously and with more pride. Whenever I walk along the beach, I can't help but try to pick up as much plastic as possible, especially the bottle caps and tiny pieces that everyone else seems to ignore. It isn't dogs that should be banned from beaches, it's PLASTIC! The canal is full of plastic bottles even though the city claims they cleaned it. They may have removed most of the vegetation that had grown during the year, but from El Vado footbridge all the way to the mouth of the canal next to the museum they simply left hundreds if not thousands of plastic bottles and other manmade crap. More city workers who don't take their job seriously enough.

Monday night was good sleeping weather with the sound of the surf rolling onto the beach, but it barely sprinkled in downtown Zihuatanejo. Not even enough to dampen the ground. So La Boquita Canal still hasn't opened up, and the water in the bay is still pristine and clear. Bathtub warm for swimming at between 30 and 31.5°C, depending where you are. Another mar de fondo event is expected this coming Thursday, so between now and then is a good time for swimming.

There's a chance of rain (again) this Tuesday night. We could sure use it, but nothing is guaranteed. There's currently a light breeze, so it should be good sleeping weather again. Especially if we get a light rain.

Ostiones are currently out of season until August 31, so please don't order them at restaurants. And you should NEVER order pulpo (octopus). They are intelligent beings who deserve our respect and care.

I believe this Wednesday is Danzón night in Plaza del Artista. The fun should start around 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. Come enjoy what's been a Zihuatanejo cultural tradition for generations. The music is always good.

An oasis in a garden of paradise. Comfortable rooms with privileged views, delicious food at their restaurant, extremely warm and friendly staff, and the truest ambiance of old Zihuatanejo.
