Thank you, we don’t spend much time in the room. The Thompson would be the top end of our budget. I like the Catalina except for the stairs. They have chillaquillas for breakfast, palapas for many guests. Massage a few yards away, Illeberto making us cocoa locos mas fuerta, unless he doesn't work there anymore, a pool, restaurant and 3 bars. You can see what I like and I'm unable to decide without more help.
Thank you

The only downside I experienced was that there were no kitchen type amenities - coffee pot, fridge, microwave - presumably to steer their guests into their mediocre attached restaurant. Otherwise I liked it a lot.

There is no chairlift at Catalina. I can’t imagine how they could possibly install one. From top to bottom there are around 250 steps. The stairs are of variable width and rise, at times without hand rails. When we were younger it didn’t seem like that big a deal. We stayed in the middle, so which ever way we went it was around 125 steps. While it is a fine hotel, some of the rooms are showing their age. Their pricing has become more aggressive.

Taxi Rates and Lodging Recommendations (reply)

Can someone provide me with the current taxi rates from Playa Ropa to El Centro?

Also, can anyone recommend moderately priced lodgings in Zihua that don't require lots of stair climbing to get to rooms or the beach? My partner has some mobility issues due to a broken back and loads of stairs, like most places around Playa Madera have, would be difficult for him.

Try Casa Iguana at Playa La Ropa. No stairs. Just a few steps from the beach.
https://www.casa-iguana.com/

Tucked away in a lovely gardened property less than a block from the beach at Playa La Ropa is another one of our hidden jewels with a French flair named Casa Iguana. Six luxurious bungalow suites with A/C, cable TV, Internet connection, kitchenettes, and garden terraces with living and dining areas. An absolutely perfect place for relaxing and losing track of time.
