Apparently the drunks called it an early night this Saturday, and by 3 in the morning downtown was quiet enough to sleep with the windows open. A rare event for a Saturday night. My how things have changed from the peaceful little village where everything closed by midnight except in the zona roja and Ixtapa where the enclosed, not open-air, discos were. But if sales for most local merchants were dead on Saturday, they were practically non-existent this Sunday. A shame. Otherwise it was another absolutely picture-postcard perfect day. Just beautiful with our fresh green hills (what's left of them), what we call verde ternura, and the air heady with the fragrance of damp earth and fresh growth.

Schools open back up this Monday after being closed half of last week due to Huracán Erick. Unfortunately, it looks like another storm is forming up that could pose a threat to our part of the Costa Grande of Guerrero as well as Lázaro Cárdenas, an important shipping port. Gotta keep a close eye on it and get ready for the worst. This is certainly quite an active June, much more active than normal. Though it's normal to have a big storm hit near us at this time of the year, it seems like they just keep coming.
