I was extremely grateful to be able to enjoy la comida at La Porteña today with a dear old friend, Phil Spolin. Phil was a friend my mother originally met when he and his then wife were hitchhiking in Florida in 1970 after sailing to Tampa Bay from Chicago. We've crossed paths numerous times throughout the years in the Virgin Islands, Florida and here, and we have common friends that we've shared times with. I'm honored that he came to visit me, even if the visit was way too brief. The generous nature of my mother was a frequent topic.

Special thanks to Joaquín and the crew at La Porteña for all their magic. They make it look easy.

There was a kayak and running race early this morning in the bay. Did anyone watch or participate in it? I've posted some photos on my Facebook page.

The last seasonal rain clouds have passed, and the forecast shows warm, sunny skies with highs around 32°C and lows around 22°C for the coming days. Nice beach weather during the day and comfortable sleeping weather at night. Expect small to moderate waves with generally calm conditions, good for light and easy surfing. The water temperature is still comfortably warm at 29.7°C.

Tucked away in a lovely gardened property less than a block from the beach at Playa La Ropa is another one of our hidden jewels with a French flair named Casa Iguana. Six luxurious bungalow suites with A/C, cable TV, Internet connection, kitchenettes, and garden terraces with living and dining areas. An absolutely perfect place for relaxing and losing track of time.
