This Thursday evening Mexicans gather together at churches across the country to serenade Guadalupe at 11:00 P.M., and at 12:00 midnight everyone will sing Las Mañanitas. In the streets near Zihuatanejo's Iglesia de Guadalupe there will be food, music, dancing and lots of celebrating. Wear your Mexican embroidered clothes.

You should be able to watch tonight's songs dedicated to Guadalupe by some of Mexico's most beloved musicians on the following YouTube channel if you don't have any Mexican channels where you live. If this channel doesn't work, just type "live basilica virgen de guadalupe" into YouTube's search feature and you should get good results. This is the Catholic church's channel available outside Mexico. People outside of Mexico will need a VPN if you want to watch Televisa's N+ live feed, which is usually the best.

Here in Mexico it will be on many national TV channels. We usually watch the serenades on Televisa.

This Friday expect restaurants to be full as families celebrate Día de Guadalupe, especially those with family members named Guadalupe. It's the most important event of the year to many Mexicans.

Oops! The strike at the Hotel Emporio isn't over after all. If you have reservations there soon, you should change them. This isn't going to be pretty.

There's a fishing tournament this weekend, so the pier will be a madhouse during the day and a drunken reverie at night. I don't promote this tournament because it's a kill tournament, and we just don't need to be killing fish for sport. Catch & release is the way to go for sport fishing.
