Maya Train News: Will freight help bring profitability?

In this day and age, passenger-only trains very rarely produce a profit. The articles does offhandily mention that tourism is the region's main economic driver. There is no mention of the economic gains from the tourism. They go on to state that the system will be adding freight capabilities by 2027. However, the system does not come to the Pacific coast. Connecting the coasts by rail has the potential to be very profitable. The answer to this seems to be the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus Tehuantepec.
