There was still of hint of "coolish" in the air this morning. But it got hot quickly today. We'll soon be coming to the first of 2 times in the year when the sun will be directly overhead at zenith. A time of year that was important to the old Mexican cultures from April 30 to August 13, known as "cuando el señor anda derecho", when Tonatiuh could fertilize Tonantzin. I suspect the heat is on and it will be more noticeable in the coming days. The second time of the year when it's at zenith is known as "cuando el sol devora su sombra". Now you know.

This morning's desfile was disappointing. It was over quite quickly. Maybe I blinked and missed them, but I don't recall seeing any mariachis, and there were no charros. It ain't a desfile without charros!

Beaches were crowded in Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa, but surprisingly this evening, in spite of practically wall-to-wall people walking along the waterfront, most of the waterfront restaurants were mostly empty. Many people who came to visit today seemed to have brought most of their food & drink with them. Merchants weren't doing much business anywhere.

A heads up that CAPAZ is announcing that water is being rationed, and it may be 10 to 12 days between being available in some colonias, especially on the hillsides. So go easy with the water until the rains arrive here on the coast to help replenish our wells.
