This Monday has been a cloudless day from sunrise to sunset. So much for the rain that was forecast. Chances are 50% for this Tuesday, but 80% for Wednesday. Hope the rain is light to moderate with no strong winds. The heat is a bit extreme for us this time of year. Veracruz and Puebla received so much rain today that cars were floating in their streets that looked like rivers. We don't need that kind of rain.

The increase in ambient heat from all the cement poured in recent years is especially notable on days like today. One more reason the mayor's new slab of cement in front of the pier is not something needed or wanted by the community. wasn't even on anyone's list of things Zihuatanejo needs or wants. Just the mayor's. Still no lights at the pier aftere sunset. The insult to the community in general and to everyone who uses the pier in particular continues.

Brazil beating Japan in their match today was kind of expected, but Paraguay beating Germany certainly wasn't. Incredible! Of course we're rooting for the American teams over the European and Asian teams, so today's wins were good news as two more American teams move on to the next round: the octavos de final. Mexicans anxiously await our team's upcoming match this Tuesday evening at 7PM against Ecuador. ¡Ponte la verde!

Very few visitors are around. The Cancha Municipal was too hot for anyone to enjoy this Monday evening. Oddly, no World Cup game was playing on their giant screen. Everyone was drenched in sweat and seeking relief.

I'm off to enjoy a cold Vicky, some fresh cacahuates, and what's left of the fútbol match between Netherlands and Morocco. Enjoy!
