A huge thunderstorm lit up the sky just outside Zihuatanejo Bay in the wee hours of this Sunday morning. It seemed impossible that it wouldn't rain here, yet it didn't. Not a drop. ¡Tamos sala'o!

It was so warm this Sunday morning that we were sweating before we even stepped out to go to the market this morning for tortillas and fresh-squoze jugo de naranja.

It got up to 36°C again today, with cemented areas radiating the heat and making it feel like 40°C.

Sales for most downtown shops and restaurants remained disappointing this Sunday. I suspect it's even worse in Ixtapa. A few folks were at some of the beachfront restaurants this evening, but no restaurant had much business. Most of the beachgoers brought their food with them or else eat at the mercado or the stalls set up on the street near the zócalo.

Rain is again in the forecast for this evening, but after all the recent forecasts that turned out to be duds, I'm not getting my hopes up for this one either.

Good news for Jugería Carmelo's. They'll be back under the roof in their newly remodeled part of the Mercado Municipal, 7 months after moving out for what they were told would only be two months. Now all the butchers, chicken sellers, sellers of barbacoa, and vendors of various produce will be moved out into the street for the next 7 months (they were also told it would only be 2) while their section gets remodeled.

La escena del crimen at the municipal pier just keeps getting taller, blocking more of the view. The fact they're building a cistern at the entrance to the pier only adds to the absurdity of the entire project. There's absolutely no need for any part of this project. What we do need is a hospital.
