Rob, do you refer to the old pink bakery on Vincente Guerero run by the 2 sisters? We thought they had closed for good. We always stopped there first on a trip to town. Loved their banana bread and all their products.

It's actually 3 sisters, and two of them now have a smaller shop now on Calle Agustín Ramirez across the alley from their former back door on the ground floor of the Hotel Zihuatanejo Centro.

This Friday morning was pretty nice out. Scattered clouds eventually moved off and the sun came out for much of the day. It got a bit warm at around 34°C, hotter wherever there was cement, but there wasn't much breeze until later in the afternoon when clouds moved back in. Currently it looks like there's a huge rainstorm heading our way from the east-southeast, and it's currently raining a cántaros in Petatlán. Oh boy!

My licuado de plátano this morning sure went well with my delicious pan dulce from Panadería Buen Gusto. What a privilege it is to live here, especially downtown near the waterfront. I thank my lucky stars every single day, especially when I open my eyes in the morning and see my lovely saint of a wife smiling at me. I'm pretty sure I'm the luckiest Gringo in Mexico!

Even though political aspirants have already been campaigning for months in violation of the law, Mexico's 2027 election season officially got underway yesterday. So expect there to be a lot of trashy political publicity everywhere, including social media, and vehicles with loudspeakers and billboards driving around making a ruckus.

A few tourists showed up today, but the beaches didn't look very busy when I checked.

The Karma Surf Competition is this Saturday and Sunday at Las Escolleras in Ixtapa starting at 7:30 in the morning. Around 50 surfers are competing. And the surf looks good for this Saturday morning. Not so sure about Sunday, but Las Escolleras should still generate enough waves. The ocean temperature is around 31.5°C. Warm.

Don't miss the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" that happens every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:40 p.m. in the small plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school, across the street from the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande in downtown Zihuatanejo by the waterfront where La Boquita canal runs into the bay. If it looks like rain, then they'll set up in the Cancha Solidaridad two blocks to the east just off Avenida La Boquita. Besides wonderful handcrafts, they feature a variety of homegrown produce, fresh foods including pastries, breads and tamales, fresh coffee, juices and mezcal.
It features a full kitchen, cable TV, wireless internet and maid service. The condo complex has a pool and 24-hour security. (click to enlarge photo)
