It's a little place on Vicente Guerrero, just up from the corner of Catalina Gonzalez - and the sign on the front just says El Meson de Chon (no "Don".

The best flavor of all that I have tasted and 1/2 chicken to go with tortillas, arroz, salsa and salad lasts me for days.

I've had good Pollo en Mole, among other tasty treats, at Tamales y Atoles "Any", on the corner of Ejido and Vicente Guerrero, across from Banamex. La Gula on Calle Adelita serves some pretty decent food, also.

Yep, I concur. Tamales y Atoles "Any" offers delicious local fare usually prepared to perfection. My only "complaint" is their portions are usually so large I can't finish them, and it bothers me to leave food on my plate.

Damn you all! Now I am hungry!! We will be in Barra for a week at the end of this month and looking forward to trying a few of the places there as we haven't stayed there before only in Zihua. Back to Zihua in October and already craving Dona Leches, Lety's, Chendo's, Los Braseros, Tamales Any y Atole, Rufo's and more! Definitely need to make it to Papa Loco's then also! Off to raid the fridge now.

Yes, both are very good. Also in Coacoyul is Pollocoa if they are still there, excellent pollo. And the stand in La Peurta on the entrance road across from OXXO is outstanding! Could go on and on....

There's nothing at all wrong with it, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Zihuatanejo, although it has recently become less so, is more laid-back than your typical beach side resort. While Ixtapa is, in it's way beautiful, you could really be at nearly any beach resort nearly anywhere in the world. Zihuatanejo has it's own particular charm and for us is the perfect place to relax. we always come down with grand plans to explore and then "Zihuatanitis" sets in and we spend a marvelous two weeks simply relaxing. When we were younger, we always thought that we'd never want to go to the same place twice. After our first trip to Zihuatanejo, we tried most of the other Mexican vacation spots, and found we were always comparing them to Zihuatanejo and they simple didn't measure up in terms of what we were looking for. I think that our upcoming trip will be our 11th year in a row.

Great restaurants, different meals. It has been a couple years since I was last at The French Laundry but it was a completely different menu than, say, Amuleto. Outstanding meal, different food.
