Major flooding in downtown Zihuatanejo (reply)

Water entered our ground floor from every opening. Our 4 locales including Lupita's Boutique and my office had some water leak in through the doorways. Our home got it through the front door.

As if the rainwater wasn't bad enough. It was almost running over the sidewalks, but when I saw the current in the street change direction and saw the great ripple of countercurrent coming from the museum I knew we only had a few minutes to make preparations for what was to follow. We did what needed doing as we have done before. It's part of the price we pay for living in our cherished home at this beloved location. Last time I was sore for days afterward from the bailing. This time not too bad at all.

Glad you are ok even if you are having to clean up.

Gracias Doña.

But after we TOO were “veeeery rudely awakened”……. at 1 A.M. ..….. I dare suggest that after this morning’s mandatory “clean-up”, that we may well be deciding to actually PACK UP!!

ISR, my D.F. attorneys will be duly Greeted on Monday a.m. with a relative inquiry into Misrepresentation Laws in México….. and the FULL liability exposure of ALL complicit parties!!

Caveat Emptor? In a pig's arse, mate!!

Sorry, no pictures.

Sounds to me like an 'event' that you wouldn't particularly WANT to have pictures of amigo!!

IE: Hardly "A Kodak Moment" (or hour) worth remembering.... and especially memories of a veeeery rudely awakened mandatory work routine at 1 A.M.!!!

But JFTR, did the agua at your place come in from the bay-facing front door side on Juan Álverez? Is that door an inside step-down?

If it makes you feel any better, dudes, over here Cely is offering everyone "Breakfast In Bed" this morning.... with a FREE Swim included.... and BOTH taking place IN the frickin master bedroom!

BYO diving fins....

Hey, Rob, Kenny Jones has a video on facebook that he took from the Captain's Daughter Restaurant. I would put it over here if I knew how. Thought you might want to post it here.

According to the people who have been out keeping their boats safe, the water over in front of the gasoline station in La Noria all the way to the stop light coming towards downtown is still flooded.

We are lucky and live in one of the highest places downtown so we watch the water go by but never get flooding.

Everything looks nice and clean and the temperature here at 9:00 was 76 degrees. Quite the change from yesterday.

Major flooding in downtown Zihuatanejo

Around midnight a major thunderstorm hit downtown Zihuatanejo. Lightning was literally bouncing off the walls. It was one of the most intense rains we've had in downtown Zihuatanejo in about a decade. The intense rain caused major flooding from the beach all the way back to Avenida Morelos and from Cinco de Mayo all the way to Benito Juárez. I was watching the street from my window when I noticed the current change direction telling me that the canal had overflowed and water was gushing out instead of running down it. I just finished an hour or so long session bailing water out of our ground floor. My office and the boutique as well as the ground floor are dry, the problem is I think I'm going to be too sore to walk tomorrow. Man, what an ordeal! But at least we are okay.

Sorry, no pictures.
