Hmmm....can you share more about the red tide Rob? I'm not familiar with it. However I am very sensitive and the other day after being in the water, though it may have been the ceviche, my lower face swelled up for a couple of days. For sensitive types is it best to stay out of the water? Does this apply to Barra , and ixtapa island too?

With the colder currents each year algae from the depths is brought to the surface where it reproduces like crazy. Sometimes it causes a red tide and produces toxins, though I am unaware if one is currently in our area. I have never seen any red tide here on the Pacific Coast of Mexico like they have frequently along Florida's Gulf Coast where folks sensitive to the toxins (like me) can't go anywhere near the water without suffering watery eyes, coughing fits and irritated throats.

there has been an algae bloom in zihua bay long before the cruise ship arrived. You can see brown and purple tinges to the water even now. sorry to burst the sewage bubble.

Why discharge sewage in the bay when you have the whole open ocean? I'm pretty sure they would not do that.

Must have been a Moderator, because the truthful posts disappeared as well. I have always appreciated the truth being told on this Board, such as the sewage discussion this morning. However, claiming to have "physically" seen a cruise ship sail away (when it had not), and insinuating it had dumped sewage and therefore people should swim at their own risk, was over the top.

The problem is when you delete one post all successive posts are also automatically deleted unless you are a talented webmaster like me (ahem... so modest, ¿verdad?).

I have heard this claim before from someone who lives on the hillside above La Ropa (hmmmm) but I would have to remind folks that as nasty as they are, cruise ships are not disposed to crapping in their own back yard; however, especially after Hurricane Manuel last year, the bottom of the bay has sadly become quite silted in over the past couple of decades, and the prop wash from the huge propellers of a cruise ship will easily kick up all that silt and muck. I've seen it many times. No big deal.

Well, yes, kind of important. "Sunrise" posted that he/she had "physically" seen the cruise ship leave the bay yesterday and it had a disgusting brown trail of sewage left behind. Problem was, many of us saw the ship still anchored in the bay long after he/she claimed it had sailed away. We called him/her out on it, and that's when the thread disappearded.

Since everyone has 3 hours to edit their posts then perhaps that ol' ray of Sunshine simply deleted their post, though it could have been a different Moderator. Either way, whoopteedoo.

None of my Moderators have contacted me regarding any deletions, so as long as the good and decent people who help me monitor this Message Board are willing, I'm not firing anyone or holding any "Inquisitions". I'm confident they either deleted something for a good reason or they accidentally hit the wrong button. Hopefully we can all learn to forgive each other for our imperfections.

Sorry Rob but Carol is right...The feel of the site change when some comments/questions are removed by trigger happy folks...In this particular case man folks would have like to see what was really going on instead of removing the thread...It may be more useful for all parties involved...

Zihuatanejo gets a visit from the cruise ship "Celebrity Century" (though I still haven't seen a single celebrity among its passengers).
