I totally agree. In January when we came down and needed 1 night before going to The Grand for 3 weeks, we thought we would try Casa Celeste 1 more time because of the location. I could not believe the added cost for a 3rd person in the room. Coming home we needed a small room for 1 night- I emailed the owner and he had just a small room with just tv & ac and apologized because as returning customers that was the only room he had left. The owner called the manager and asked if we were ok because of the room we were in. What I like is when the reservations are made you pay by Pay Pal if in the states.
We have never been disappointed- our first time when we went to make reservations the room he offered had all ready been rented out and let us have a larger and better room for the same price. This hotel is not up scale but is clean and has a lot of customers that come back weeks at a time because of price, location and the management.

Thank you for all the replys. For the cost, we can walk to the beach and enjoy the walk to town. Allows us more money to spend on good food and a new piece of silver jewelry.

The ocean view is nice, but when we are only at Villa Mercedes 1 or 2 nights before and after our stay at Pacifica, the view is not that important. We are just looking for a nice clean inexpensive hotel. We enjoy the walk from there to Centro either the walkway along the canal or down the street going past all of the good places to eat- seams there are more places now than before to eat.

The Bomberos bar is way quieter than before. Villas Mercedes seems like a good deal and an excellent location - just missing the ocean view.

We stayed there for 1 night in Feb. and noise was not a factor. We like flying 1 or 2 days early and stay 1 or 2 days later to miss the Saturday mess at the air port. Villa Mercedes is our favorite. A few years ago we were staying at Casa Celeste and had to find some place else because of the noise. We stayed there 1 night in Jan on a Friday night and the noise was not as bad as before. What we were up set about was the cost they charged for 3 people in the room with 2 double beds- we could have gotten 2 of the smaller rooms inside for what we paid for the 1 room. We love the location of Casa Celeste but they have lost us as customers because of the over charge. The 3rd person at Villas Mercedes is very reasonable. We will book Villa Mercedes in the late fall for 1 night if they have a small room.

We stay next door to the chicken shack for three months ( Jan -March ) not much noise and do not belive all you hear

I stay close and was close by in February as well and the bar is not a factor later at night.

We live next to Villas Mercedes and have been here for 5 months - the bar is still there, but the late night noise is no longer a factor for us (thank heavens!). In fact, we hardly ever hear any noise from there, even during the day.

Has anyone stayed at Villas Mercedes lately? I saw a posting regarding a rogue bar being next door and want to make sure there is not a lot of noise at night. We stayed at Casa Celeste for many years till the bars had music playing till 4 AM, and are now trying to find a quiet hotel.
