While lounging in my beach chair in the Mayan I looked up to see a double dope on a rope sailing dangerously low, the boat had stalled and if it had not started just in time the couple would have slammed into the top floor of my building. After they got the boat started the couple just skimmed over the top of our building. They were lucky.

This has been a serious problem for years and years.

I have also seen people falling from the sky on several occassions in Zihuatanejo.

Please listen to Rob and find something safer to do.

Not sure if this still applies, but I would think it does- the typical travel insurance folks buy for their vacation normally has some very small print that says the coverage is void if said traveller participates in risky activities, like ziplining, parasailing, etc. This could come as a huge surprise at an already very bad time!

I personally knew 4 people killed in Parasail related accidents including one cut in half by the tow boat without a spotter (of course) on Xmas eve AM 7 years ago while swimming in the bay. He had done it right including having a spotter balloon attached to his body to no avail. Dead before his body was taken from the water.

Another parasail rider got dropped on a palm tree from which she then fell hard to the ground yesterday at Playa La Ropa near La Perla Restaurant before being taken to a local private hospital. Once again I stress the lack of regulations or responsibility of any kind regarding the local parasail rides, and I have even witnessed one of the numerous deaths these folks have caused through their own negligence for which they barely even receive a slap on the wrist. For your own safety I urge folks not to partake of this "service".
