I'm going to locate that book! I haven't done well with spanish software, maybe a book will be more helpful. My spanish friends seem to think I am fluent enough, but 1/2 the time I feel very, very lost. And of course it is worse when I go back to the states for an extended time and forget all the spanish I had been learning!

6 of us went to school in Patzcuaro this January..CELEP was the organization. 5 did a group lesson and 1 did a private class..excellent teachers and great fun..we didn't use their accommodation as we had our own and they were also very flexible in the timing of our class. I'd love to spend a month there. Patzcuaro is a lovely town and there was a real lack of tourists there this year.

You make me want to go there...now! I really want to be able to speak Spanish in an understandable way It makes more sense to me to be able to speak Spanish in Mexico that trying to get everyone to speak English to accomodate me. I think I need to spend a year there to really learn properly The hotel price sounds great too!

I am also enjoying this book (Madrigals Magic Key to Spanish). It takes a different approach to learning and I am finding it helpful.

Thanks a bunch. We are thinking of doing an extened stay in Patzcuaro during the brutally hot summer months in Casa Grande, AZ.

I want to sit on a bench in Plaza Grande or Plaze Chica and go to the "farmer's market" and talk to people.

We were there recently and found a surprising number of locals who could speak some English.

If you haven't gone then you are missing a great trip. First class bus makes the trip evne better. We stayed at Hotel Parroquia on Plaza Chica for 500 persos per night, two people. Wasn't much business so you might make a deal for a week or longer.

How nice that you're learning Spanish! Not just a way to be a more gracious traveler, but a way for us ancianos to fight off senility!

I attempted to post a reply, but ended up sending you an email. So, I am trying again.

I was suggesting that the company might have been Pimsleur. I am not the person who wrote last year. You might do a google search for "pimsleur spanish" and see what you get. There are many links there.

Last fall I made a similar subject post and asked if anyone had used Rosetts Stone. Someone posted and gave a link to an alternative that I liked really well BUT I lost the link and can't find the original post.

Hope that person can jump back in here. As I recall the cost of the CD/DVD set was $149, could have been more.

Thanks
