Leon beer @ the flophouse bar (reply)

OMG! Leon! So good. Discovered this beer on our last trip to Zihua when we stayed in Mexico City. Dinner and drinks in the Centro Historico late at night with Leon beer. Outstanding! Not distributed widely to southern Mexico and hard to find in Zihua but Commercial Mexicana carried it. My new favorite beer, eclipsing Negro Modelo (dark) and Dos Equis lager.

The flophouse bar has it. (Hola Carlos y Ita!)

I have a feeling that such dark beers, that are often found in Mexico City, are not big sellers on the coast due to the weather. I often drink stout and dark beers where I live in the fall, winter and colder spring days but in the summer, very rarely. Same when I'm in Mexico...And I wish more good beers were offfered in cans as it sure makes it easier on the beach or poolside...

This post has made a turn for the better! Beer, a topic I enjoy discussing! I'd not had Pacifico in the can until last time down there. Since there was no glass at the pool, it was the only responsible move as we saw it. Nice, but the bottle is better! As for Victoria, yes, I like it also! Probably right behind Pacifico...anyway, there is no losers when the argument is Pacifico versus Victoria, or bottled or canned...

All this talk, I'm thirsty. Not the same as in a pool at Zihuatenejo...but it'll do...

<crack> ahh....the day is looking up!

Thank you for the replies. It is a long way off, but we will take a taxi from the airport. We'll also be sure to check out the Pacifico. (I'll also be drinking many of the beverages by the same name...one of my favorite Mexican beers!!!)

To get here from the airport you would want to take a cab or private car. The bus would not be convenient. It would involve changing buses at least once. While the buses do drop people at the new road, not the old entrance, the kombis wait for their passengers up there most of the time.

You'll want to take the Transporte Terrestre service from the airport. I should have their new rates up later today or tomorrow at the latest, but to get an idea of their rates please see my page for Airport Ground Transportation.

A new destination...Trocones

We have been to Zihuatenejo a few times, and Ixtapa once. We are thinking about spending a week in Trocones next holiday instead! (for a change, we love Zihuatenejo)

What is the best way to get there from the airport? Is it just like when going to Ixtapa\Zihuatenejo? (Counter on the right, and book\pay to Trocones instead?)

I've heard the bus drops you off at the bus stop on the highway, not ideal with kids and a bunch of suit cases. I prefer door to door in my unadventurous old age...

Thanks in advance.
