No matter where you are, you just can't sleepwalk your way through life unless perhaps you never leave home.

One thing I always do when I believe I see someone suspicious outside our home is get my camera and pretend to take their photo. If it's someone innocent they don't even notice or think anything about it, but if it's someone up to no good they quickly fidget and disappear. I believe it's better to act like you know you're being observed than to pretend to ignore it. That's why I believe you did the absolute right thing. Good call!

And sorry you had to take such precautions here. Truly I believe we are safer here in Zihuatanejo than most places on the planet, but the ills of "civilization" had to find us here sooner or later.

Close Call?...a Cautionary Experience for Sure

My wife and I love Zihuatanejo, having come for several years, and plan to do so for many more. It is both a paradise and a city of some size, which includes the need to watch what's going on. She didn't really want me to post the following, but I think some on the board would want to know:

Last night around 9:30 as we left the cheap seats outside of Rafa's during Eric McFadden's set, headed for some gelato at Fragolino, I mentioned to my wife that I thought we were being followed. Turns out that we were, the guy stayed a few paces behind us and walked by a little way while we ordered. I notice that he had camped out between a large SUV and a car, in the shadows. Rather than going in that direction, which would have been the norm for heading back to La Madera, we went the other way and he hurried right up behind us again. So we crossed the stereo, still being followed, found a cop right there and reported what was going on. He called out to the guy, who quickly turned tail and hurried away. The cop meanwhile got on his radio and broadcast a description of the guy.

This certainly could have happened right in our hometown, and only shows that it's worth your while to pay attention to what's going on around you and to act accordingly.
