Water Sports - Jet Skiing Question (reply)

I totally agree about respecting other folks. I too believe that we should all try to keep Zihuat nice and relaxing. I have no intention of jet skiing in close proximity to the la ropa swimming and would much prefer going outside of the bay anyway as I know that is where the better views not to mention better jet skiing is. Thank you for the idea. I think that may be the best advice yet. Also so anyone who is interested knows the day pass at Dorado Pacific in Ixtapa is 200 peso per person and this includes food and drink.

Gracias!

Water Sports - Jet Skiing Question (reply)

Another option is to rent at LaRopa and leave the bay. Ixtapa is a 15 minute ride via Jet Ski and the coast is something you must see.
Make sure you let the operator know you are going and you should be fine.
Zihua Bay is a bit small, but IMO, if you get well offshore and don't buzz the beaches it is not a bad thing.
It all comes down to respect.

Water Sports - Jet Skiing Question (reply)

Ditto. Vile machines, same thing for snowmobiles in the GW North. On La Madera, the close calls are frightening, idiots swerving in amongst swimmers, fisherman hand-casting nets, shellfish divers. Luckily I swim in the early a.m., they're asleep then...

Water Sports - Jet Skiing Question (reply)

Thanks to those of you who actually helped answer my question. We will most likely check out the Jet skiing in Ixtapa and perhaps a day pass at The Dorado Pacifico. Any ideas of other resorts in Ixtapa that offer day passes. What about Jet Skiing option at Playa Linda?

Thanks in advance!

Water Sports - Jet Skiing Question answered (reply)

I have not noticed any of the newer engines being used in Zihua Bay. They're just as obnoxious as ever and so are most of the drivers. Near misses with swimmers happen a lot. I think it would be more fun in Ixtapa too. Bigger waves!

Water Sports - Jet Skiing Question answered (reply)

The jet skis on La Ropa are NOT all owned by the same person. The group near El Pirata and El Manglar, near the estuarray, is owned and operated by Beto's Water Sports. Beto is a long time local Mexican. His English is excellent and most of his staff speak good English as well. His machines are well maintained and well muffled. Not nearly as loud as some.

I have never rented a jet ski and probably never will but I don't find the quiet ones objectionable.

Water Sports - Jet Skiing Question answered (reply)

Expect to pay around $25-30 for 30 minutes, more for a double. I think there are at least 3 different locations on La Ropa, but all probably owned/managed by the same folks. I used to find jet skis obnoxious but the newer engines are so much quieter you barely notice them anymore.
