I phoned the hotel on their breakfast offer and he said it was with eggs, fruit , yogurt, coffee so it is more of the "American" type breakfast and he said for a small price you can add bacon, huevo rancheros etc. And the sun, sand and surf are FREE,

Thanks so much for the info. We are also early risers so the little store will be wonderful for us. Free coffee sounds great! We got an exceptionally good package and we were just curious. This works out well as we prefer to wander then eat!!

I have not had the continental breakfast at Villa Mexicana. Some posts say it is quite limited, others enjoyed it.
When booking directly with the hotel you have the choice of 'free breakfast' or 'no breakfast'. If you choice no breakfast, you get the fourth night free after staying 3 nights. Over a two week vacation, 3 free nights adds up to many breakfasts, out where ever you want to eat, and some lunches too, never mind that you have now reduced your nightly stay from approximately $1400 to $1100. (Keith would spend the savings on another days fishing!) We are very early risers so we often get yogurt and a banana from the corner store, just steps away and eat it with the great homemade granola from the market. Coffee is free to all VM guests until 8am. That way we are lightly fed & coffeed up, and can take off wondering and eat breakfast, brunch or lunch wherever and whenever we want. Lots of great restaurants all along the beach and on the way into el Centro to try out.
Shrimp omelette at Patys is my second day breakfast/brunch. Awesome! I will be enjoying it on Jan 12. Can not wait!

I am a new poster to the board although I have been reading for years. We have been coming to Zihua/Ixtapa for over 15 years but have never stayed at the Villa Mexicana. We found a great price and have the option of a continental breakfast for an additional $5.00/day.

Has anyone ever had the continental breakfast? Does the breakfast consist of rolls, fruit, yogurt like any other continental breakfast? We thought it might be a good option as we are both coffee hounds and could easily spend that at another restaurant just on coffee since you pay by the cup.
