Food and Wine Festival

For the most part, the events are rather pricey for locals but sound wonderful. Locals are being offered a 15% discount on all tickets and you must go to the Ixtapa office over by Nueva Zelandia and pay with a credit card and show that you live here. HOWEVER, no vale la pena. I went yesterday to buy tickets to an event. Took my 45 minutes to save what I thought would be $3.00 US on each ticket. BUT their office converts the dollar amount to a unfavorable pesos amount--then adds 16% IVA and then converts it back on your credit card to which you are charged an international transaction fee. Sooooo the $25 dollar ticket with the 15% discount cost me $27.00 by the time it was over. If you as a local want to go to an event, save yourself time and hassle and just buy online. They were very pleasant at the office while I was waiting 45 minutes to save a couple of bucks!!!
