Doggie Police (reply)

That's good to hear.
We haven't ventured out with our girls at any time even close to when they are out there, so have not seen one in action.
If we do, of course we'll be polite-they are just trying to make a living.
We just came off the beach after sitting and people watching for a couple of hours, without the dogs. Sure missed them!
We have been shocked at the number of people that stop us on the beach and ask about our dogs. I guess we have been way more visible to regular visitors than we thought. We have always done our best to provide dog love to people who miss their dogs.
In the evenings, for sunset, our two are dog ambassadors most days-often to Mexican people who are curious about them and dogs in general.
If only we could have them with us in the afternoons, life would be perfect!
Yes, we are always leashed, except when swimming, and always have bags enough to share.

Dog Permit Renewals (reply)

The word on the street is that they are not hassling people, as long as the dog is on a leash and you are carrying bags for clean-up. We walked on La Ropa this morning around 9:30 - 10:30 and did not see any.

Dog Permit Renewals (reply)

One of those "doggie cops" is a family member of mine. They don't make the rules, so please don't mistreat them or be rude to them. They're just doing their jobs. You can respectfully acknowledge them and continue on your way, or if you care to engage with them simply explain that if they wish to run you off the beach they will have to call the police and you intend to record it on video. All we need is one video to post on the social media and I believe that will be enough to lay this matter to rest. It was a poorly thought out and poorly implemented policy from the git go.

Remember that the all beaches at least 20 meters from the water line are federal zone, and I believe it is actually the entire beach but let's play it safe and consider the first option. So that in spite of any local regulation, according to the relevant federal law you just walk along the water's edge and you should be out of the area of municipal jurisdiction with respect to enforcing their regulations on the beach:

REGLAMENTO PARA EL USO Y APROVECHAMIENTO DEL MAR TERRITORIAL, VÍAS NAVEGABLES,
PLAYAS, ZONA FEDERAL MARÍTIMO TERRESTRE Y TERRENOS GANADOS AL MAR

CAPÍTULO II

DE LAS PLAYAS, ZONA FEDERAL MARITIMO TERRESTRE Y TERRENOS GANADOS AL MAR

SECCIÓN I
DEL USO DE LAS PLAYAS

ARTÍCULO 7o.- Las playas y la zona federal marítimo terrestre podrán disfrutarse y gozarse por toda persona sin más limitaciones y restricciones que las siguientes:

I. La Secretaría dispondrá las áreas, horarios y condiciones en que no podrán utilizarse vehículos y demás actividades que pongan en peligro la integridad física de los usuarios de las playas, de conformidad con los programas maestros de control;
II.

You can read the entire law here:

Dog Permit Renewals

Is anyone bothering to try to renew?
Will she allow it?
Considering she would not allow me to get a permit without going to a "Public Clinic" I don't see how she can renew them.
Actually saw a doggie cop walking the beach in front of El Marlin, Rossy's and Pirata this morning.
