We stayed at Casa Celeste in Central last year for a few days & we walked everywhere. Ask for an inside room & you shouldn't hear any bar noise. $70.00 US

The Fontan does not have shared bathrooms. Every room has its own. Most rooms are 2 double beds. Several have kingsize. Just like my 1970's house the 1970's Fontan needs and receives constant maintenance. It is a good, clean place to stay that is also used HEAVILY by the nationals on the weekends. The breakfast is great as is the Miramar lunch restaurant. The one free ala carte per week is excellent. Dinner buffet will get repetitive quickly. Allocate some $$ to eat offsite as there are many excellent eateries in Ixtapa and in even more in Zih. Fontan makes a great home base and is usually the least expensive option in the area, often heavily discounted for last minute travel.

Make no mistake. The Fonatan is a good, clean, 2 star hotel. Properties like Dorado, LasBrisa,Azul Grand and Barcelo offer a fair bit more luxury and cater to different clientèle (tourista).

Our routine at Fontan is to eat breaky, enjoy the beach walks, and pool areas, catch a massage. Have sit down lunch and drinks all afternoon, followed up with a siesta. then dress up and bus/cab to Zihua where we enjoy a different restaurant every night.

I am booked there since my favorite place in Zihua has doubled their room rates....

Do they really have shared bathrooms?? And is it really falling apart?

We cant really afford more than $100 a night (Feb 17-20).... maybe there is something else decently priced?

Any help would be great....
