Thank you so very much for letting him know. I am back home now and was hoping he would read this message board or someone would know him and let him know. I will go back to his restaraunt next year and have a visit with him to thank him again. He is definitely one of the good ones.

Glad you had a favorable experience.

I have had on a few occasions, a similar experience, in which I left things behind, and they were still there where I left them, or, the person in charge conserved them.
On one occasion though, I left my HOBIE polarized sunglasses at a computer in an internet place.
I went back the next day when I realized I left them behind, and, someone had taken them. Although it would of been nice if the person who took them, would of turned them over to the lady in charge, nevertheless, I took my own blame, for the stupidity in forgetting them.

Saw Julian today at Commercial and let him know that you had posted your thanks to him and his staff on this site. He was very appreciative that you did this and he said he was more than happy to help you out in your time of need. Julian has always been a class act in his restaurant and whenever you meet him away from his place of work. Always happy to support him and Restaurante El Mediterraneo

On one of our earliest Zihua trips a storekeeper chased us half a block
to return a couple pesos of change we had left on the his counter. We've traveled quite a lot around the world & have been robbed just 3 times
...all in of which were in the states or it's possessions/territories.
Sad commentary.

Hey, sorry if I sounded surprised. Quite the opposite, actually. When my sister and I were camping all over Mexico for 4 months back in 1975, against the advice of lots of friends and family, we had nothing but positive wonderful experiences with the local people all over Mexico. I just wanted to hi light yet another example of the kindness and helpfulness I have experienced with people who live and work in Mexico. Surprised? No! Grateful and happy? Yes! It's not just the weather and beautiful surroundings that bring us back year after year. The people we have met and interacted with are a huge part of our love for this place.

While I am happy that your daughter's wallet was found and returned, I am always confused by the surprise that people in Mexico would be honest.

what a great story! I'm also finding the people here so warm and helpful. I was stung by something on the pasero on the way to Barra de Potosi and a young girl came over and very gently removed the stinger. Also while in Commercial Mexicana I had put my cell phone in my cart. A woman came over and told me not to leave it like that as it would be stolen. She even checked on me later to make sure I hadn't done it again and nodded her head in approval when she saw I Had it in my hand

I have been coming to Zihua in January since 1989, with my kids who were 5 and 6 years old then. They learned to swim in the water on Playa La Ropa, and they come back whenever they can. My husband comes too when he can. My daughter was just here for 10 days, and left her wallet and other items in a bag, on a table in a restaurant downtown - El Medeterano two nights ago. She did not realize it until the next morning, which was the day she was leaving. I called the owner (I got his number from this wonderful site) and he said he would investigate, and that if she had truly left it there, he would find it. We were so worried as there was a lot of cash in the wallet - CAD, USD, and Pesos, plus credit cards and her favorite sun glasses. My daughter left on her way to the airport, and I walked downtown to wait until the restaurant opened at 3:00. When I walked in, the owner was there, and had a big smile on his face. He had the bag with everything including every penny in the wallet. I wish I had gotten his name so I could print it here to thank him again for his honesty, and the honesty of his employees, but I was so emotional all I could do was hug him and say thank you!!! I gave him a small token of our appreciation for the employee who turned the bag in, and left feeling so joyful and light hearted. I have always loved the kind gentle people of Zihua, and now love them even more. Just wanted to put this message out for others to know. Thanks for this great forum, ZihuaRob .
