Bronze Statues (reply)

Hi Rob

Just returned from a wonderful two weeks in Zihua
with friends. After seeing the beautiful bronze statues
that grace Centro there were questions about their origin/
history.
Can you point me to a link or possibly give me a brief
story on their origin.

Thanks
LeeZ

The statues were made by local sculptor Crescencio Oregón Torres about 17 years or so ago when Armando Federico González was our mayor and he commissioned to have them done. They sat unnoticed in a little used park until about 6 years ago when another mayor Alejandro Bravo decided to relocate them to the downtown area along the waterfront and the first couple of blocks. They represent the 7 regions of Guerrero except for the one of the fisherman, which is the newest of the statues. Now Guerrero was just redivided into 8 regions, so maybe we'll get another statue.
