I persoanlly I have use a service called,RIA Money Tranfer (RIAmoneytransfer.com/mexico. You can send yourself money and pick it up with some form of ID at a location of your choice in Zihua. They issue you a 11 number pin and it's how you collect.

They charge $10 Dlls for up to $3000 and your money is ready in 5 minutes. These places like Western Union, Xoom, Money Gram seem like a good deal but for the most part their exchange rate sucks. Recently I have seen them paying up to $14.95 per dollar.

Some of my relatives who now live in the US send their families money using this service and others such as SIGUE but do not have information at this moment, but I will ask and post it...

You are quite possibly correct in all you posted. I failed to include the $8.00 fee that I paid for the $990. was the same fee I pay if I send $3000. I was just not sending that much. You can pick up the money at lots of different locations also, I just chose Electra. Guess I just did not give all the details. The pin number is the same for Money Gram. 5 minutes is the same also. The last exchange rate I got was $14.79 and that was a few weeks ago.

I am certainly glad there are lots of options for receiving money here when you do not want to use an ATM or exchange dollars.

From Alaska I sent myself money three times to Zihua. It was MoneyGram and to send $990. cost me $8.00. You need only your drivers license to send money. To pick up the money here at Electra you need your passport if not a Mexican citizen. Last year all I needed was my Mexican Drivers license but the regulations changed. You get a really good exchange rate. The same as with ATM's.

Yes its very easy, you just go online and you can send money from your checking account to yourself. It costs $4 USD 3 day wait at that rate and a good exchange rate. It will promt a phone call from their fraud dept but just explain what you are doing. You will need to show your passport for ID. I did it in November just to have some extra cash if I needed it and if you don't pick it up you can claim it back at home within 30 days.
