Another stressful day in Zihua :-)

Well folks, I survived another day in Zihua and it's not easy. Like Rob said yesterday, I don't waste any time to get in the swing of things and enjoy it all. I may need a vacation after my vacation

I slept in this morning and went for breakfast at Margaritas. It was so busy as their main meeting room in the back was full with a large group of "politicos" were doing their thing there when I arrived and there was a birthday get-together in the main room. That's something different for me as back home it is not common to see people being celebrated in a restaurant for their birthday at breakfast or lunch time. It seems to be here as I have seen it there several times. The rest of the room was 80% full with a mix of locals, nationals and canadians. That place always does well and it is easy to see why. Good service, nice setting and the food, although not special as after all it is a breakfast and lunch restaurant, is done well and consistently the same which seems difficult to maintain here. Pricing as well is reasonable. I had huevos rancheros with salsa rojo done perfectly with some white refried beans served with some freshly baked bread and a glass of freshly squeezed juice for 79 pesos. Can't go wrong and it was a nice start to the day.

Came back to my hotel and relaxed a bit and then had a workout and did some reading and a nap before going to do some banking. I went to the Scotia Bank after getting a photocopy of my passport across the street for half a peso and got 11.63 for my canadian dollar. I noticed the US$ had hit 15 for a dollar. Not good for the average mexican. After having done a bit of walking and sweating some, I walked past the mercado and stop at the lady selling the fruit juices on the street for my glass of horchata to cool off then crossed the street and did a bit of shopping then headed back to my hotel.

Then it was time for a shower and check out the view with a beer and some guacamole at Rana Rene down the stairs from my hotel. It was my first time back since last year and they welcomed me so warmly it felt great. After a while it was time to get back to my hotel and had a chat with some of the candians leaving tomorrow that were doing some guacamole and prepping for some drinks. We have an outdoor kitchen at this hotel and it is great for folks that want to cook or just make drinks in the blender like them. A nice blend of fresh mango and coconut milk was a great foundation to their drinks and so tasty. Then it was time to get ready for dinner.

Quite an experience tonight. Pepe the owner of the hotel had invited me to a fish bbq he was doing for a few invited guests. Nothing like a nice outdoor bbq and he also had some great tuna sashimi. Fresh red snapper on the grill and cold beer. So yummy! A guest happens to be a great blues guitarist and he played a few tunes while we were eating. Fun times tonight. One of the reason I enjoy the hotelsCaracol and Sun and Moon.

Then it was time to head out to La Cancha. Some basketball tournament finals was going on and the place was packed. I watched a game for a while after delivering some gifts for some friends and then toured the area for a while before heading back to the hotel. Another nice day with beautiful weather and great people. Tomorrow I start all over again...Love it!
