A local that we know very well received such a call at least 2 years ago, and was told that they had her daughter. She was absolutely hysterical! With a friend's help, she was able to verify that her daughter was fine and at home. A terrifying experience, to be sure. Evidently if you believe the caller, there will be a request for money to return your family member/friend. Unfortunately this type of stuff goes on everywhere.
