What a lovely reflection on everyday life for you guys. And Babs is quite a beautiful addition to the family! What will you feed her/him?

Our daughter has been researching snails on the internet, so I guess she'll find out what Babs needs to eat. I suspect Babs will be eating more spinach, though if Babs behaves I might even share some of my mint with her/him.

Another day in paradise!

Woke up before daylight and took a few deep joyful breaths of our rich air fragrant with the ocean and tropical flowers and a hint of wood smoke. I found my saint of a wife in the kitchen feeding the menagerie that lives outside the kitchen window. So I made myself useful and made a pot of delicious fresh coffee grown right here in Guerrero. That first sip is always the best and it always makes me smack my lips and let out a big sigh of sheer ecstasy.

Then up to the rooftop to check the tinacos to see how much water we have. The view is always a joy, and I catch the aromatic scent of the bakery a few doors away. Heaven on earth! Another of my favorite morning smells!

Get the plants all watered, then downstairs to open up the house, check the exterior, get the morning paper, take in a view of the lovely beach and the beautiful bay and our charming quiet streets. And then it's off to work, which fortunately requires no commute. I like it like that.

We have a new addition to the family. After returning from the grocery store yesterday our daughter was washing the fresh spinach she'd just bought when she discovered it was inhabited by a rather sizable snail. I said "¡Mmmm, escargot!" but she reprimanded me and bought a special container for it and is determined to give it a good home since it would likely die from the heat and the insects anywhere outdoors here. Now she calls it Babs, short for Babosa, which means "slimy".

Just another lovely day in paradise!
