One Of My Favorites... (reply)

Is blended magenta and white Bougainvillea. On some of the Novelas interior design fashion can blow the eyeballs out with color. Mexico is not the place for drab colors. Amazing what a good photographer and camera can do. But not me. My aptitude there must be near-zero.

Great clouds in both images! Was#2 a morning or evening shot?

Both are morning shots. I find it is the best light of the day, and there is usually a 5 or 10 minute period during many mornings where the light does neat things. Or maybe it's just the flashbacks...

Burnin' Z Light

Thanks to the bright tropical sun at our little latitudes the colors of everything seem brighter and more naturally vivid. It was one of the first things that struck me all those decades ago on my first plane flight to the Caribbean, as if the flight over all those emerald jewels in the cerulean blue sea weren't beautiful enough, as soon as I stepped off the plane I was bombarded by tones of greens and yellows and reds that I'd simply never seen in any northern city. Years later when I finally made it to Zihuatanejo, it just happened to be the peak of the rainy season (back when rainy seasons were still normal and predictable). Although Zihuatanejo goes from periods of extreme dryness to an abundance of rain, the colors are always the bright, vivid and vibrant colors of the tropics. A true feast for the eyes at any time of the year. And these colors have also become a part of the culture throughout the tropics, one of the commonalities that tropical dwellers share.
