Not Necessarily Drugs... (reply)

I got kicked out of a pool in Las Vegas one time while wearing a thong. Evidently there's a front and back to those things.

Thanks for the funner! That made me laugh!

In Spanish we call that kind of thong (whether it's a bathing suit bottom or undies) "hilo dental", which in English translates to "dental floss", so it's always good for a joke when I ask my wife or our daughter to pick up some hilo dental at the store... ¡PARA LOS DIENTES!

The young lady -could be- the victim of a permanent alternate reality. Subject to episodes when she is un-medicated or under medicated. The level of coordination described does not really jibe with alcohol.

I never for a moment thought she was drunk. More like she'd taken one of the bad designer drugs or even a hallucinogenic. Drunks always shout. She was totally mute. Didn't even whisper a harsh sound. I'm no expert in behavioral psychology, but she didn't appear to be suffering from a mental disorder.

She was dressed for a special night out on the town, right down to the sexy thong, and like I said, it appeared she'd taken a "special" substance for the occasion. I've helped and accompanied a lot of people through their "trips" and overdoses, and to me it certainly looked like she was on one.

We often talk about how being out in the wee hours drunk isn't a good idea. Being out in the wee hours jumping on moving vehicles in communities where drunk driving is prevalent increases the risk > 100X. Glad she's ok and hope she doesn't repeat.

I find it amazing that there were actual cops on the beat at that time of day. It seems to me that during the day I see quite a few groups of 4 or 6 cops riding around in trucks but once the sun goes down you will very seldom see any police at all. A plus for their appearance is they aren't all caring rifles now. But I would like to see more of their presents during the evenings and at 4 to 5AM when the loud bars are closing

We called the police, and I imagine several other folks including the taxis did, too. They came running from the Módulo next to the Cancha Municipal. The Policía Municipal all had their firearms confiscated months ago when the Mando Único took over. The local police haven't passed the vetting and confidence testing, so they are not allowed to have firearms and thus they simply stopped responding to most calls for assistance.

Crazy Lay Z

It was so hot last evening that it was hard to sleep, so we were tossing and turning around midnight when we heard someone drumming on a car out in front of our window. When we looked outside we saw what appeared to be a young tall thin tourist woman in a red dress and white blouse attacking every car that went past her. She never uttered a sound. Just smiled and did a snaking dance and even some gymnastics in front of cars, then she would stand in front of them and beat on the hood and push against the vehicle. A taxi driver quickly hit reverse and tried to get away from her, but he didn't get far. It was almost like watching a faena and she was the toreador. A couple of cars snuck past her though she apparently broke the mirror loose from one. Then she got on the hood of a truck who stupidly hit the gas then braked hard, throwing the girl to the ground. She could've been killed. There's always an asshole in the crowd. By then she had lost the red skirt and part of her blouse. She kept dancing and attacking cars to the point where she lost her blouse and most of whatever she had tied on over her thong undies, still smiling eerily. When a couple of police came walking down the street she took off running, leaping like a gazelle. Pedestrians were laughing by this time, though we felt bad for the girl. I suspect she had saved some special drug for her vacation in Zihuatanejo and it got the better of her. Unless she was mute it was odd that she never uttered a sound. Only frowned when the one truck threw her to the ground. Definitely one of the strangest things to happen at night in front of our home for a while. And certainly more interesting than the usual noisy and belligerent drunks. Hope she makes it home okay. She's going to be sore today, that's for sure.

Meanwhile, the sun also rises...
