¡Feliz Día de San Patricio!

As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,162 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (4 more than yesterday), 175 that have resulted in fatalities, 24 that are currently active, and approximately 1,824 that have recovered. La Unión and Petatlán both report 1 active case.

The heat and humidity creeped up a small notch, but the waves we've had for several days have calmed down.

Very unfortunately, the leaked fuel from the grounded yacht at the Marina Ixtapa entrance channel has affected the local marine life and caused a sizable fish kill. A shame it wasn't immediately pumped out. Apparently the marina is not equipped to handle accidents, and the Mexican Navy will have to do the cleanup.

Congratulations to the Kiwis for winning the America's Cup!

Too bad we can't have regattas here in Zihuatanejo. We used to have the last leg of the Maratón Náutico de Río Balsas in our bay, but the local and state government let that one slip away due to their inability to provide public security, and apparently they haven't shown any interest in getting the event back. Bummer.

Thanks for the new palm trees, but the local government shouldn't have killed ANY of our older beloved trees.
