I'm headed to Oaxaca city over Day of the Dead for some more work on my Spanish. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel near the zócalo for a two-week stay?

We have stayed at Hotel Marques del Valle the past 4 years. It is located at the Zocalo and is a basic and clean hotel. Can get loud and festive on weekend evenings.

We stayed years ago at Hotel de la Parra. Small, cozy, and close enough to Zocalo.

My husband and I stayed at a bed and breakfast, La Betulia. Within walking distance of everything, super-nice hosts and awesome breakfasts.

We attended a jazz show in the courtyard of Casa Colonial Feb 2020 and toured the place, Jane seems like a wonderful host. It is about 14 minute walk to Zocalo. Unfortunately there was no room left at the inn for the 10 days we were there so we stayed at Parador San Roberto around the corner and down the street.

A few years ago, we spent 3 or 4 days at Casa Arnel, a Lonely Planet budget/backpackers' favourite for years. 15 or 20 minute walk to the zocalos.
