As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,198 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (1 more than yesterday), 180 that have resulted in fatalities, 26 that are currently active, and approximately 1,850 that have recovered. Logistical planning is underway for the vaccination of people over 60 in Zihuatanejo. The local government is coordinating with the federal government and expects to receive a shipment of doses soon.

Beginning this coming Monday 7 states will be designated Semáforo Verde, a clear sign of the progress being made due to the successful efforts and sacrifices by so many people. Guerrero isn't one of those states, but it means in those states students can return to school, non-essential businesses can open and public spaces that have been closed or restricted will be able to operate normally or close to it. Let's see how things look after the Semana Santa and Semana de Pascua vacations.

Water service is starting to fail as hotels and lodgings fill their pools and cisterns as tourism increases. We had to but a pipa a couple of days ago after not receiving water for over a week. Replenishing water will be more difficult by pipa in the coming week as visitors take up parking spaces. Streets are filling up and parking places are getting scarce as families continue to arrive for vacation.

More tall old palm trees disappeared along the waterfront today. The disappointment from this municipal government continues.

Perfect weather continues in our tropical paradise.
