As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,218 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (1 more than yesterday), 182 that have resulted in fatalities, 20 that are currently active, and approximately 1,874 that have recovered. I still haven't seen any numbers from the free testing being done at strategic points where tourists pass by such as the Zihuatanejo municipal pier.

As if it wasn't crowded enough, busload after busload after busload of tourists arrived this morning, all walking from the bus parking lot just over the bridge to La Ropa from Plaza Kioto to the pier. Lots of tourists also show up in smaller buses that look like oversized vans and park downtown. Many carrying coolers. All anxious to get to the beach and in the water. More tourists this year appear to be walking to Las Gatas from La Ropa than ever before as they endeavor to cut costs since the lancheros at the pier upped their rates to $80 (or more) per person.

Today was a bit warmer than yesterday, but the smoke seemed less noticeable than yesterday, even after a big fire yesterday, though it is visible on the horizon. Winds appear to remain favorable for those of us downtown. Don't know about other parts.

The waves remain high, filling up Canal La Boquita all the way to Plaza Kioto. Keep up with local weather phenomena on my Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa Weather page.

Beaches were full everywhere with families enjoying Domingo de Pascua.
