As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,248 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (4 more than yesterday), 182 that have resulted in fatalities, 31 that are currently active, and approximately 1,891 that have recovered. No spike yet. Still looking good. If tourists are bringing the virus with them, they're also apparently taking the problem back to wherever they come here from. La Unión currently registers 2 active cases while Petatlán registers 1. Guerrero remains under Semáforo Amarillo.

Zihuatanejo was supposed to finish its vaccination program for adults over 60 today, but it is being extended until tomorrow thanks to over 4,000 more doses arriving from Acapulco today. There were only 1500 doses available today at the Unidad Deportiva in Zihuatanejo where I went, so unfortunately a lot of people were left without being vaccinated. I managed to help one woman without all her paperwork to get vaccinated anyway. Someone who was helping get people lined up asked me where the elderly person was I was accompanying. Those two events made my day. I was in at 6:30 and done before 11:00. Saw some old friends including some old co-workers I hadn't seen in 30 years, and made some new friends. Enjoyed the nice stroll home afterwards. I'd say things went rather smoothly all things considered. Lots of people were helping each other out, and when a call went out for volunteers to help sign people up, people quickly stepped up and did the job. I was extremely proud to be a zihuatanejense today, watching family and neighbors helping, folks being patient, and doing their part to keep themselves and their families safe and to get Zihuatanejo back to "normal" as soon as possible. This is what community spirit is all about!

Yeah, well I think I liked the tall palm trees better than this rather busy whateveritis rather poorly and hastily put together, but at least it allows water to flow through it. I'm not convinced this is better, and at the rate they're going it might take months to finish laying all these tiny bricks.
