As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,250 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (2 more than yesterday), 182 that have resulted in fatalities, 29 that are currently active, and approximately 1,894 that have recovered. Still no evidence of a spike from the first part of the Semana Santa vacation period.

It seems like local hotel and tourist services associations are only just now "getting it" that the exclusively All-Included model by the hotels in Ixtapa's "Zona Hotelera I" is killing the local economy, a fact that has been apparent in Ixtapa's shopping centers and that I've also noticed in Zihuatanejo for at least the past 15 years or so, and I've mentioned it often. I don't know why it's taken everyone else so long to see this, but today local tourism associations and related services are finally saying this publicly: that the past Semana Santa vacation period was a major disappointment for most local businesses because the tourists coming to Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo didn't hardly buy anything and barely spent any money here. Well no shit, Sherlock! That's why I work so hard at what I do.

The final day of Covid-19 vaccinations went smoothly in all 3 vaccination centers. If I understood the numbers correctly, it appears they used all but about 2 doses.

Colorful, in an odd almost cartoonish sort of way.

To paraphrase someone, "It's hard to get an official to understand something when his paycheck depends on him NOT understanding it."
