As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,300 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (1 more than yesterday), 188 that have resulted in fatalities, 36 that are currently active, and approximately 1,929 that have recovered. La Unión currently has 3 active cases while Petatlán only registers 1. Looks like the backside of the Semana Santa bump. Let's hope there isn't a spike from the vaccination event the weekend before last.

Big fires are sprouting up all around Zihuatanejo and the coast as farmers burn their tlacololes for planting before the rains, and once the nice cool northerly breezes we've been enjoying change to southerly things will get smoky and warm quickly, and then the humidity will arrive. Any day now. Enjoy our cool evenings and mild days while they last.

There is a severe shortage of water (and they want to build a 1200-room all-included hotel at Playa Manzanillo?) so for those of you who are here, go easy with what little you might get until the rains start. This is what happens in May. We run out of water and it gets hot, humid and smoky. Funners.

More whale art, but the whales have all gone home. I wonder if whoever is responsible for this recent promo knows that?

I'm sure Dave would agree, the one best thing about owning or staying in Ixtapa, seems like an endless supply of water. Why has Zihua never been able keep up with the need. And would that new proppsed hotel sink it's own deep well to insure their needs?

Ixtapa, like Las Vegas, steals its water from others so that big swimming pools can be filled and expensive gardens can be watered. Maybe you haven't noticed the dry riverbeds to the north and east of Ixtapa. Like the proposed ecocidal project at Playa Manzanillo, is not sustainable.

And Ixtapa's water supply does run out of water from time to time. If you don't actually live there then you might not've noticed.

Where we live the grizzly bear is a dominant theme. For us, the whales are a good theme for this area and we hope to be to catch a small glimpse while here. The use of plastic components to make some of them is very creative along with interpretation/education and making areas colorful.

All but one of the old tall palm trees along the waterfront have been cut down. I won't be taking many photos there anymore like I used to. I'm barely motivated now to promote what's left of Zihuatanejo thanks to greedy arrogant politicians and their questionable principles. It appears more and more like you all don't matter to them. They want you to come and spend your money, but they don't want to preserve what you love about Zihuatanejo.

I loved his song, "Amada Amante," and that he has taken part of campaigns supporting disabled people, as his leg was amputated when he was a young boy.
