Guerrero's health officials report 116 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 11 in La Unión, 7 in Petatlán, 7 in Técpan, 376 in Acapulco, and 2,206 for the entire state. Numbers are falling fast.
Good news: Sunday evening a swimmer at Playa Linda got caught in a current and swept out to sea, but instead of fighting the current he relaxed and kept calm and concentrated on staying afloat. Three hours later he was rescued at Playa Blanca.
Bad news: A teenager who apparently didn't know how to swim drowned at Playa La Madera Monday evening.
In other bad news, the price of tortillas went up from 28 to 30 pesos a kilo. No problem for you all, but another hardship for many local families who are already struggling.
I spotted the Google mapping vehicle in town this weekend. Has anyone else seen it? Hopefully they're updating their street map images.

Rob I am wondering the same thing. Floating for 3 hours from Playa Linda all the way to Playa Blanca seems to me to be miraculous. Thank goodness he is safe and sound.

I know in the winter the current flow is from north to south here. But I have never asked about summer and have never bottom fished in the summer? For him to make it to Playa Blanca in three hours would be almost impossible. The current would have to be as strong as a river and somehow he would have to be pushed back into playa Blanca once past Zih Bay. I smell a fishy story.
There were several rescues in Ixtapa over the last few days. Even though the life guards are consistently whistling people to stay close to shore.

All the way from Playa Linda. That is correct. He was interviewed on the radio yesterday morning.
