Un Océano Muy PaZIHfico
Health officials in Guerrero confirm 9 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 1 in Coyuca de Benítez, 153 in Acapulco, and 212 in the entire state. Currently no one is hospitalized with Covid-19 in Guerrero, and the number of cases appears to be dropping.
Experts in fast rescue boats tried to untangle the humpback whale that was reported yesterday in front of Playa La Majahua in Troncones, but they said that it fled quickly away still trailing the rope and floats from an illegal fishing net. Authorities further down the coast have been notified to keep an eye out for it.
We awoke to another cool morning this Tuesday in downtown Zihuatanejo. I didn't want to stop snuggling with my sweetie, but we're always up before sunrise. The ocean has been almost glass calm for quite some time now. It's so easy to lose track of time here, but soon there will be parties everywhere for the posadas now that Día de Guadalupe has passed. Christmas decorations are going up all over the waterfront and downtown.
As far as the feel of Old Zihuatanejo, several lodgings that I recommend still conserve the best of our past, as if time stood still. One of my favorite lodgings is Bungalows Pacíficos, now run by the niece of its founder with her husband. A lovely hard-working couple who will make you feel right at home in this lovely old well-maintained lodging overlooking Zihuatanejo's bay.
