Guerrero's health officials confirm 10 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 3 in Técpan, 2 in Atoyac, 1 in Benito Juárez, 1 in Coyuca de Benítez, 83 in Acapulco, and 194 in the entire state.

¡Feliz Día del Trabajo!
After scaring all the animals to death downtown with their extremely loud cuetes, something I don't ever recall from any previous year, the parade of workers from local sindicatos celebrating Día del Trabajo was thankfully over quickly. Normally I would enjoy the sindicatos of local musicians, but the rockets were so loud my ears were ringing. A shame to see Zihuatanejo seems to be going backwards regarding noise pollution. I could hear people in the street complaining about the too-loud explosions from the cuetes.

It was good to see all the visitors that were here for the long weekend. Quite a few were spending their money in the local shops and restaurants. A good deal of our visitors appeared to be middle-class.

The water temp is up to 29°C, and it's especially noticeable at night where it doesn't quite get as cool as it had been near the water, though our temperatures continue relatively mild, knock on wood. Not much smoke so far either.

[image]A lovely condo overlooking the beach at Playa La Madera in Zihuatanejo is Casa Parfait. An airy 1-bedroom beachfront vacation rental condo. It features a king-size bed, a fold-out twin bed for additional guests, a full kitchen, A/C, cable TV, and Wi-Fi internet as well as a pool on the complex overlooking the ocean. A wonderful location.

A typical morning at the fishermen's area of the downtown beach. Several pangas wait offshore to beach themselves and offload their overnight catch.

The May 1 super-loud fireworks scared one of Zihua's humane society (SPAZ: Sociedad Protectora de Animales de Zihuatanejo) dogs so much that she jumped into the metal protections on a door and got stuck. Three people had to remove her from in between the iron bars after she was anesthetized. She broke 2 ribs and had to be put to sleep.

Damn the fireworks.

Someone should be held accountable! And that would be the ayuntamiento for PERMITTING the cuetes as well as whoever was shooting them off. ¡Estoy harto de un ayuntamiento que solo simula sus deberes dejando agonizar el pueblo!

Allowing these damn fireworks near Spaz is akin to animal abuse. Whoever is in charge and allows this abuse should be charged with animal cruelty. Come on Xihua, arent we better than this.

YES, WE are better than such. But the clowns running the show, that's totally different. I say the public has no say in how the city operates. It's a one-man operation. There is no money in it for the city, so why worry about the comfort or discomfort of some dogs from the street! I have seven and feed three more on the street, DAILY. :grrr:
